Had to deal with FedEx many times in my working days. In the past if you just kept say "representative" over and over would work to get you a live person. I strongly suspect that no longer works. I caught a delivery person dropping off an Amazon package at our house last month. I ran after him before he pulled away to let him know it was wrong. He asked me "are you sure?"!!! Uh, think I would know if I ordered something or not!!

Yes, one of the many challenges of living alone. My living room is up a flight of stairs — it took a good friend to teach me to open the box and bring up parts individually. Duh!

That's what I do when it's too heavy. Sometimes they leave it blocking the door, which makes getting out a challenge. :-)

Do you have a local teen or elderly person who could "house sit" while they knit, do schoolwork, play video games etc to be there and wait when you're not there? Or even when you are? Might be a good investment and probably if you supply snacks and beverages, pretty cheap....

It's something to consider, but I live out in the woods and there aren't a lot of people around during the day. I will keep it in mind.

Or maybe, for the future, a motion sensor camera for the front? To alert you?

I was thinking the same as Jodi. Here in the UK I've got a 'Ring doorbell' that alerts my phone when someone's at the door and even when I'm on respite in another city, I answer whoever's at the door via the speaker. Handy when the pharmacy is delivering meds or a postman has a package.

The camera sensor area extends to fairly large area. I've cameras at the back as well as the one camera doorbell at the front.

My niece in California has one. It's definitely worth considering.

If you end up with those boxes, I’ll be happy to come over and help assemble - me and my cordless screwdriver.

I’ve ordered and assembled lots of furniture. Most of it’s pretty easy - like attaching legs.

I’ve done it alone but with two people (one propping, one screwing it on) it wouldn’t be hard.

But let’s just hope they read and heed your signs

Thank you, Sasha. I will keep that in mind. I need one of those cordless screwdrivers.

Under $20 at Harbor Freight. I kick myself for not buying one decades ago. Game changer!

I shared how I use our camera-motion-sensor-doorbell below under Jodi's comment.

I've had to put together chairs and a desk and I'm terrible doing it. Most of the modern furniture is put together with Allen key screws rather than the traditional screws...and they are a pain. I've just done 2 chairs, wondering why they said only screw to 70%..the last hole didn't line up...imagine trying to embrace the chair enough, hit and miss with tightening other screws to get everything aligned..It's a whole new article in itself, Sue 'How to assemble flat pack furniture on your own! Tips and hacks!!'

That's exactly why I don't want to do it. I have had plenty of assembly experience. It's never perfect.

I have a motion sensor light at my front door, but not the doorbell. It might be a good idea. Thanks.

Agreed, that is terrible service. I hate putting things together WITH my husband! Let alone by myself...... I have also had trouble with delivery issues out here in the boondocks, try to buy everything directly if I can. The big companies outsource the details because they can...... Hope your signs work. I don't think I could handle our property by myself, it would take a LOT of help.

It is a lot to manage alone. I'd love to have a maid and a handyman to take care of me. Hug your hubby and thank him for everything he does.

Yes Sue I will! I always try to remember that as he's doing something upside down, that he's DOING it. He's a peach for sure.
