I think our level of loneliness is more a function of how well we’ve developed the skills of connection, and how intentional we are with our relationships.

If your only reason to have children was to not be lonely in old age, then you deserve what you get. You have children bc you want them…not to be your caretakers when old. Besides there are literally, many reasons why they can't/won't/ couldn't take care of you. They could die, their spouse doesn't like you, they have too many children on their own, you were a bad parent and they don't want to, they could be disabled, they could have an addiction problem…which lands them in jail, they can barely take care of themselves….you get the picture.
