Divorced, don't go to NYE parties anymore, perfectly content to stay in and relax. Read a book, watch a movie. We can make our own traditions and mine has become to end the year resting and relaxing. Happy and healthy 2025, Sue.

I will be spending tomorrow night at home with hubby. We are planning on getting Chinese food takeout, some form of pork on Wednesday. We've been invited to our niece's but have declined. Way too many people and noise for our comfort level. I have an appointment first thing Thursday morning for a medical test, nothing super invasive but I'm a little nervous. Everything will probably be fine, but I still get a little anxious. Best wishes to you and all who read this for a happy and prosperous 2025.

Mr. J and I will eat some delicious cheeses and some meats. . . and probably go to bed at 9:30!

Wish we lived next door, you'd be a very fun neighbor! I am grateful that I discovered your writing this year. I'm married, 79 years old, and will probably go to bed at my usual time of 10:30 p.m. on New Year's eve. The last day of the year, and the first day of 2025, will find me knitting hats which I donate at the Christmas season next year. My hats have gone to Ukraine, Germany, to Navajo children in Utah, and to school teachers in my community. It gives me purpose to make something beautiful each day. Cheers to you, wonderful and creative lady!

I want to knit hats, too. Everybody in my circle already has too many hats, but I could give them to charity. Great idea. I wish you lived next door, too.

I'm going to sit in my freshly painted living room and enjoy my snazzy new electric fireplace, Living alone, I have shied away from gas fireplaces that have to be manually lit. Now I just push a button on a remote and the flames dance in hypnotic patterns! My smaller dog will be snuggled next to me and the other dog will lounge in a chair. I'll reflect but also look forward and try to set intentions for the coming year. New Year's Eve is always a little sad as I remember the NYE 31 years ago when I had to put a beloved dog to sleep. I'll think of the words of the young veterinary technician who said, "God takes care of them when we no longer can." Those words have comforted me countless times over the years, and I've learned that the happy memories return to the fore, over time. I'm grateful to be part of this supportive community you have created. It's very helpful and inspiring. Thank you!

Quiet night at home watching movies with my husband. We haven't been out on NYE in years ... events seem to be overcrowded, overheated, and overpriced, with a LONG wait for an anticlimactic moment (12:01 never feels all that different from 11:59), and then there is the nerve-wracking drive home, wondering how many drivers around us are impaired. Staying in is much more fun! We went out to lunch with my stepson instead.

Happy New Year!

I agree. Staying home is good. I had to pick up a prescription this morning, and traffic was already crazy. I will probably be in bed at midnight.

I've treating myself to egg fried rice with tofu, veggie dumplings and a fruit smoothy from a new Japanese restaurant in town right now. I love Japanese food. Will watch TV and/or listen to podcasts tonight and or read. Might go to bed before midnight although the fireworks live broadcast from London are always sensational. Still don't know the words of Auld Lang Syne!

I'm planning to have raviolis, my favorite, with sausage and caesar salad and keep reading the Dean Koontz novel that has me hooked. I do know the first verse of Auld Lang Syne. Does anybody know all the verses?
