Childless cat lady here 🙋‍♀️ Definitely not miserable, but I do notice some days I tone down how much I talk about my kitties for fear of sounding obsessive and being judged through that lens....

Lots of parents obsess about their children, so I wouldn't worry about it. It might be a good way to shut them up.

True, I don't often see parents toning it down for fear of sounding obsessive 😂

Literally love that you researched who has the cats 🐈‍⬛ to prove this idiot wrong with his old fashioned sexist statements. I love that kind of detail. 😆

All I can say is that after last night this Canadian slept a bit better. More power to all childless cat ladies and their friends.

I know what you mean. But I'm still praying, just in case too many Americans still don't get it.

Childless single lady here! I can’t have pets full time due to my living situation and my disabilities … but I have fostered dogs. If you have the opportunity I really can’t recommend it enough. It’s so rewarding - and I’ve met the most wonderful pups that way.

My favourite was Bowser - a 9 year old pit bull/mastiff mix (he was a big boy) who found himself in the shelter when his owner married a man who didn’t like dogs. Already a senior - bowser didn’t take to shelter life.

So he came to live with me in my teeny apartment with teeny furniture that he was constantly knocking over. He was almost as big as me! We went for walks and people would cross to the other side of the street - afraid I wouldn’t be able to control this beast of a dog who was walking me 😂

He was such a gentle giant though. He behaved so well when we were out - and at home he would crawl in bed with me and nudge me with his paw whenever my heart rate would drop too low. We had just met and yet were instant kindred spirits.

I like to think he knew I was sick - and was extra gentle with me as a result. He found a forever home with a big yard and two other dogs to play with …. But I still miss him.

Long winded way of saying you should definitely foster - it’s a great experience!

That sounds wonderful. I hope I wouldn't get such a big dog, but I know they have giant hearts, too.

I grew up with bull mastiffs so I’m comfortable around big dogs - but I also felt bad because no one else would take him at that age and size. Good luck whatever you decide!

If I had the energy to walk a dog I'd get one, but it wouldn't be fair as things are. I have hedgehogs and birds in my garden and cats would interfere with them, more than dogs.

Yes, they would. My neighbor's cats murder lots of little critters. No hedgehogs here, but I love watching the birds.
